    celibacy during Kunlun practice

The book recommends 3 months.  I'm just starting the practice and my girlfriend is not at all happy about this portion.   Max seems to think its rather important it appears.  What have your experiences been  with this?

Sorry to be so specific;  Is all sexual stimulation of any kind meant to be avoided during this time?  It will help me to be really clear on this.

    Thank you!

    Tom

    Re: celibacy during Kunlun practice

I think it more intended towards retention of energy.

Kunlun is related to Jing which comes from ones kidneys. Jing is depleted/used up by sexual releases. The more you can control and retain at end of release stronger your engery and expereience can be.

Max has said its ok if you are in a committed relationship to engage in activitites, but if you can learn Taoist or other methods of retention, they wil help. Not to mention ability to have multiple male orgasms. There are may book out there on this subject.

    Re: celibacy during Kunlun practice

In tantra, jade dragon (taoist sexual) practices, sexual yoga, etc... a main focal point is abstention from ejaculation for a male, specifically because ejaculation is an intense drain of a man's chi and jing.  (the so-called "refraction period"... Orgasms don't have a similar effect on women... makes me jealous).  Celibacy would easily satisfy this requirement, and that may be the motive for Max's recommendation of 3 months.  Celibacy would also prevent the confusion that may arise from experiencing different types of currents in the body.  Sexual energy is very associated with Kundalini and Max continually stressed that Kunlun is NOT Kundalini... BUT, sexual practices are extremely useful and powerful for exploring and igniting energy currents in the body... so as usual, it's always good to use training wheels before racing a bike...  it's up to you how you wanna pursue the practice...  some actions make the path faster and more effective than others...  its all energy cultivation and its always better to be safe than sorry
