    Fire in the Head

    Hello everyone,

I was hoping you guys could help me out with this. I constantly have pressure and heat in my head, mostly on the surface right in the middle of my skull. I have a fledgling bald spot to prove it. :-p I practice the Red Phoneix and it's difficult for me to feel the sensation of coolness in my skull because it's surrounded by so much fire.

What are some ways of cooling down my head? It was mentioned at the seminar that it's not good to have fire in the head -- and I've figured that for some time now -- and I want to be able to practice better and relieve the pressure.

        Any suggestions?

        Thanks,

        sadhaka

    Re: Fire in the Head

Do you end the practices with few minutes of putting your hands on stomach

    and

internally through intention bringing all the energy raised in head to the stomach ?

Its possible that you are leaving the energy in the head and its bothering you.

Try spending longer on above step, and with each out breath, kind of like do ahhhhhhh withough opening your mouth and take energy from head to stomach.

sadhaka perhaps your qi is rising up.

Next time you finish a session look at your face in the mirror.

If there is redness it means that your yang energy is rising up and this is not good.

If your face looks pale (ashen) then too much yin energy is present.

Take a few moments and concentrate on bringing your intent down from your head all the way to

and then through the feet into the earth as far down as you can imagine.  This will help.

You might also try to rub the fingertips of one hand down the centerline of your body very lightly while

imagining your intent sinking down as above.

    works for me.

    Re: Fire in the Head

Quite a few corrective measures can be taken for too much energy in the head...

    1) GROUNDING EXERCISES

One good example is imagining a deep crimson triangle in the base of the pelvis (pointing down) and imagining it sprouting cool, strong roots that descend through the legs, through the K1/bubbling spring points of the feet and penetrating deep into the ground down to the cool center of the Earth.

Another grounding exercise is to "spiral" your energy into your lower dan tien.  If male: Circle your hands in front of your navel, palms facing your stomach, in the direction of the bowel movements of the large intestine.  If female, "spiral" in the opposite direction.

    2) WATER MEDITATION

Concentrate on the Sahasrara chakra as a source of pure, soothing light and energy.  Imagine that energy pouring down as a pure, cold source of the purest blessed water that pours into your baihui point (GB20/Gall Bladder-20) and descends/pours down the front of your face.  A key element is touching the tongue to the roof of the mouth.  Feel around with the tip of your tongue for the location that feels the most "energetic" and lightly touch it while you feel for the charge of energy running down the front of your body (this is the way to connect the governing and conception vessel to complete the microcosmic orbit).  Visualize this pour of cool water down through this channel and into your lower dan tien.  Use each inhale as an opportunity to breath this cool energy into your diaphragm and into your lower dan tien.
